Still Simmering from Under Fire 2018

“Simmer: become calmer and quieter”
I am still a little in shock from #UnderFire2018. All spring my team has had their heads down, working to make my brainchild come to life. Now that we can come up for air and the dust has settled, I can only say Thank You. Thank you to my amazing team: Shelby Payne for leading all marketing and branding Under Fire. Paul Siebert (aka Logistics Lover), for preparing 20 demonstrations and executing 10 demos at Disaster City. Ryan Mills is my law enforcement technology manager, that lives in the details. Lou Blinn for keeping budget in mind, while allowing us to set the bar really high for the 1st Under Fire. Thank you to our sponsors and partners, without their support Under Fire would never have been possible: Schreder, Defense Equipment Company, Darley, Ricochet Manufacturing, Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station’s Commercialization and Entrepreneurship, Aggie Angel Network, Paragon Innovations, Responder Ventures, Michael Best, Research Valley Partnership, We Respond, and Esri. There are moments in one’s career that create highs. For me, hosting #UnderFire2018 at the Memorial Student Center on the beautiful campus of Texas A&M University was certainly a high. At TEEX PDC we firmly believe “It Takes a Village.” If not for all of these individuals and their companies or organizations the first annual Under Fire would certainly have not been the success that it was. To the 20 companies that we invited and the 17 that were able to attend, thank you for your dedicated efforts to introduce technology that will enhance public safety and homeland security. You also helped fulfill a young Center Manager’s dream to host the top #ResponderTech and allow them to compete for a progressive prize pool and the chance to demo at Disaster City® at the Response Innovation Showdown. Then to have 10 companies demo, 9 competing for additional cash, was incredible. Under Fire finalists are working exactly on the type of solutions I envision will mitigate or eliminate many of our nations’ public safety concerns.
